Lets Go Heat

We’re Going To Overtime Baby!

December 1st, 2008 @ 11:31:55 PM

Overtime with the Golden State Warriors! Wooo. Udonis at the end of this game was huge. he managed to get that loose ball with seconds left. Then on the final seconds of the game Haslem tracks and snatches a Michael Beasley miss off the rim and lays up for 2 to tie the game at the buzzer.

Another notable was Daequan Cook and a few of his monster 3 pointers that kept us in it.

Lets see what the next 5 minutes brings.

Heat Lose A Tight One To The Clips On The Road

November 30th, 2008 @ 8:50:25 PM

I repeat myself every week, but this Heat team is impressive every week and doing some incredible things while being undersized. Even though Miami lost a close one, 96-97, the Heat still played excellent team ball. Wade missed a pair of free throws that would’ve been the game difference.

Joel Anthony has been moved to the starting lineup. I like the decision.

Al Thornton for the Clippers, reminds me a lot of the way Lamar Odom played while in Miami. He can do it all on both ends and caused many a problem for us that night. A very dangerous utility player.

We have Golden State tomorrow to contend with which should go our way if we play like we have against these better teams.

Heat Crush The Suns

November 28th, 2008 @ 8:54:14 PM

A really nice game where Wade simply busted the Suns up, but as a Heat fan, I never put it all on Wade. This team plays excellent team ball. They are so quick and continue to push a pace on offense and defense that I haven’t seen the Heat play like this since the early days when Tim Hardaway was running the point.

Phoenix Suns have the size advantage, but they have Shaq, who is slow and doesn’t posess the same offensive power that he had at a minimum 5 years ago, which is no match for our speed. The way Spoelstra has this team rebounding is really impressive as well.

Joel Anthony again, just doing what he has to do and its enough.

Chalmers, man this guy is trouble for a lot of players every single game.

This faster team is really allowing Wade to get to the basket more, but without the kind of damage he took when we had Zo and Shaq because our new scheme takes the beef out of the paint.

All compliments and no complaints.

Heat Can Contend With Anyone If They Can Contend With Rockets

November 24th, 2008 @ 8:04:34 PM

The Rockets are probably one of the most stacked teams in the league and the Miami Heat playing their fast moving defense and offense is giving most NBA teams enough problems to keep it close.

Spoelstra seems to be rotating the bench to perfection giving everyone the right amount of minutes.

Out issues of size although still a problem, is being made up for with swarming defense and solid rebounding. Joel Anthony is giving the Heat huge minutes. I’m repeating myself, but our half court game against tall teams is not going to be pretty. We can’t get to basket very easily and we are forced to shoot a lot of 3 pointers. Which can make or break our games.

However, you have to be happy with the way this team is playing its really mind boggling.

Overdue Comments On 76ers Game

November 8th, 2008 @ 2:59:45 PM

Wow. The Heat played unbelievably that night. Chalmers had a record 8 steals in the game. Wade was solid and scored at will when he felt like it. The team played amazing fast break basketball.

The Heat are no longer a half court team and when they play the teams that are, they will have problems, but the solution will be run them tired.

If the Heat can play like they did against the 76ers then they will be able to contend with anyone.

I was impressed with Spoelstra’s rotation of his players. Almost everyone got minutes and there was much ball sharing going on.

It was Spoelstra himself who said recently in a press conference that when we can click it will be something to see – or something like that. In that game the team clicked. Dalembert could barely keep up and had little shot blocking effect.

I know its early, but there were some glimmers of greatness during that game.

Pistons Aquire Iverson, We Are Officially Screwed

November 3rd, 2008 @ 1:41:18 PM

It wasn’t like playing the Pistons this year wouldn’t be a rout anyways, but now with Iverson. Ugh….

Mario Chalmers Interview

The folks over at InsideHoops have alerted us to their interview with Mario Chalmers. Check it out.

NO INSIDE PRESENCE

October 30th, 2008 @ 11:57:51 AM

The Heat have no inside game right now and the lack of defense in the paint is going to make for depressing game after depressing game.

The new guys are REALLY slack on their perimeter defense as well.

I was impressed with Mario Chalmers offensive ability in the way he could get to basket at will and was putting up great shots, but his defense is like the boston tunnel. You could drive right through as if there wasn’t even a body standing there. Like I already said, there is no help down low. None. You think Haslem is going to do it…wrong.

Miami Heat kick off the season with an opener against the New York Knicks.

We have a complicated team this year and expectations can’t be lower.

New Look, Old Feel For D. Wade

August 19th, 2008 @ 8:28:14 PM

The summer Olympics may be an early Christmas present for Heat fans. Drafting Michael Beasley was nice, but seeing Wade attacking the net like old, almost brings a tear to your eye doesn’t it? Is it enough to let us dream of a return to the playoffs? I think so. It doesn’t put the Heat at the favorites to win it all, but the competitiveness is back.

If Beasley comes as advertised, and Wade is back to this form and can give the Heat 75 games this year, then dare to dream heat fans. The supporting cast is solid, lead by Haslem and dare I say Marion. Depth at the forward position, Mario Chambliss at guard, we all know he doesn’t sweat the late shot. This is a young, talented team without Wade. But it’s not a playoff team. It’s a team that will win 35 games, show flashes but lack that one thing that can get us over the hump. Thankfully we already have that one thing. The team is built, the talent is here, the old, slow, injury prone, expensive baggage is gone, its time for Wades team. Maybe this will be a dream team for Miami fans.
